Vietnam's digital economy to contribute 30 pct of GDP by 2030

Vietnam's digital economy is expected to contribute approximately 30 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030 under the digital economy and digital society development program for the 2026-2030 period, the Vietnam News Agency reported Monday.

The program was approved by Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung recently, with the Ministry of Science and Technology tasked with overseeing its implementation.

Under the program, Vietnam aims to support at least 500,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in their digital transformation efforts by 2030.

The country also targets ensuring that all citizens aged 14 and above have electronic identification accounts by 2030, while at least 10 million people of working age will receive basic digital skills training.
