Starting May 20, married couples in China can apply for a digital marriage certificate online, according to the National Government Service Platform. The digital marriage certificate can be used to handle various services and is more convenient than the physical one. Services such as household registration, real estate registration, provident fund loan application, property purchase qualification review, etc., can be accessed by using the digital marriage certificate, removing the need for users to present a physical marriage certificate.How to Apply for a Digital Marriage Certificate?
Search "National Government Service" or "国家政务服务平台" on Weixin, then scroll down to "My certificates" or "我的证照”.
Tap "All" or "全部", and then follow the instructions to complete registration if you have not used the service before.
Check the terms of the agreement box and tap "Allow" or "允许", you will then fill in your identity information and take a facial recognition test.
After completing identity verification, you will be taken to the next page, where you can scroll down to the "PRC Marriage Certificate" or "中华人民和国结婚证".Tap "Authorize and Bind" or "授权关联"。If all went well as expected, you will find the digital marriage certificate issued on the same page. The National Government Service Platform provides several digital certificates on one single page, reducing the need to carry physical certificates. It also facilitates identification when accessing several services.
The platform will be improved to store more certificates and licenses, bringing closer the final goal of achieving mutual recognition of certificates nationwide.
